Delusional Arrington. Mob behavior. And finally, me once again agreeing with Blodget.
Long time readers will know that I yelled into the blogging ether in 2006 that they should do exactly this.
Is it bad that Yahoo finds themselves in this position? Yes. But the reality is they are in a crippled state and they need to focus on fewer things. Deluding themselves further is not an option.
Panama has been a categorical failure. Every person in that team should be fired. In fact, there is probably half the company that could be laid off.
The problem I have with most coverage is that people seem to mix search technology with search monetization, as if they were the same thing.
Yahoo needs to focus on getting it’s search index competitive with Google. And it needs to focus on reinvigorating its core properties like finance, travel etc.

yahoo! is a brand first.
they should get a brand expert in there and reinvent the company.
the sad thing is that yahoo! is a brand that everyone knows… and no longer does it mean a single damn thing. it used to be “the directory”. now it’s what? a “portal”?
the brand used to mean: “HURRAY ! THE INTERNET IS AWESOME AND I AM DISCOVERING IT !!!” what does it mean now ?

So, Yahoo (YHOO) chose to do a deal with Google (GOOG) and rejected Microsoft (MSFT). Bottom line: Google extends their paid search hegemony……
