Donald Trump

February 7th, 2006

Michael Lewis is one of the best writers of our time. Take this pearler of a quote, for example:

“Somewhere there is another country, far beyond the pale, known as Bad Taste, and Trump has devoted his life to racing through it and staking as many private claims as possible, pausing only to yodel back to the homeland songs of himself.”

The profile is one of the better ones of Donald Trump, who is embroiled in a $5bn lawsuit with a writer who claimed that The Donald was worth less than a billion dollars and not all that rich when debt was factored in. The case in itself seems rather circular - winning billions of dollars if proving that he is worth billions of dollars. But Lewis nails the genesis of what matters, if the Donald thinks, the Donald is. And that is all the public cares about.
